Yes, you could! There are hundreds and hundreds of resources that are available. You can do the research on your own, but we are here to support families who may not have the time to search or who want to make sure they are following the right path to get their student into the best-fit college for their student.
We provide you with specialized support for parents and students. I have over 18 years experience working as a mental health therapist, turned school counselor. I understand the need for a balance and making sure a student’s mental health is taken into account, while preparing them to get into the best-fit college for them! I have worked with students at all levels in high school and you will receive personalized support.
School counselors are an important part of your student’s high school path and college search process. School counselors also serve several hundred students so they may not have as much time as you need to answer questions. They also may not have the same level of specialty or understanding of the college search process as a private coach.
I am here to support you, and your student! We will work through your questions, create a strategic plan for high school, develop a balanced, well thought out college list, and work through admissions decisions. I am NOT here to do the work for your student. We do not complete applications, write essays, or do the work for students.
When should we start working with someone in the college search?
The earlier you start, the more detailed information and support you can have in your student’s high school path and college search. When students are beginning high school, they can meet less frequently. As students get closer to senior year, the frequency will increase to provide the appropriate level of support.
I work with students through virtual meetings throughout the United States! Students have access to a virtual portal to access notes, action items between meetings, and other resources.
It is not too late! We can work to support your student when and where they are in the college search.
You can schedule a free consultation with me to talk about your questions and see if coaching would be a good fit. If you know you want to work with me, please send an email at [email protected] to get started!
